CHARITY ANN (SMITH) MCLELAND

Died, at her home in Des Moines twp., on Monday, March 14, 1892. Mrs. Charity Ann McCleland, aged 64 years, 3 months and 23 days. The deceased was born in the state of Indiana, on the 21 day of November 1827. She was united in marriage to R. N. McCleland, September 11, 1845. She was the mother of nine children, eight of whom, four sons and four daughters, with the venerable husband, survive to mourn their loss. At the age of sixteen she was converted and united with the Baptist church in which communion she died; being a member of the Bonaparte Baptist church at the time of her death. In the year 1847 she came with her husband to Iowa and for more than thirty years has had her home on the farm where her death occurred. The funeral took place from the family residence on Tuesday, March 15; sermon by Rev. C. W. Wilson. She was buried in the Cantril cemetery.
