Albert Elmer Jemison, son of John and Ellen Jemison was born at Pittsburg, Ia, Sep. 23,1878, and passed away Feb.5,1947, being 68 years, 4 months and 12 days of age. Bert was one of a family of eleven children. He grew up to manhood around Pittsburg. On April 8,1903, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Ewing of Mt. Zion. To this union was born three children, Juanita Maola, who died as a babe, Lena and Hollis. Proceding him in death were his parents, one brother,five sisters, and an infant daughter. Remaining to miss him are his wife Mary, one son Hollis, of Kansas City, Mo and a daughter Lena Stegelman of Keosauqua,with whom he made his home. Three grandchildren, Albert and Ruth Stegelman of Keosauqua and Joyce Jemison of Kansas City, Mo; his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hollis Jemison and his son-in-law, John Stegelman, who were as dear to him as his own children. Also two sisters and two brothers, Bessie Hoskin and O.N. Jemison of Keosauqua and Millie Gibson and George Jemison of Ottumwa; also nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Burial was in Purdom cemetery.
