Mrs. Lila Hill,82, of Bonaparte died Monday Jan.19th at the Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, after a lengthy illness. She was born May 29,1887 at Bentonsport, the daughter of Jesse and Cynthia Scott Stevens. On Dec.24,1908, in Bonaparte she married Harry W. Hill. He died April 30,1954. She lived in Bonaparte since 1927 moving to town from a farm near Bentonsport. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Corns of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Ada Miller of Wayland, Mrs. Grace Van Patton of Redwood Valley,Ca, Mrs. Ethel Thoman of Montrose and Mrs. Faye Neeley of Bonaparte; and one son Roy Hill of Quincy,Il; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Patterson of Keokuk and Mrs. Gertrude Storms of Des Moines; two brothers Ted Stevens of Cody, Wy and Ernest Stevens of Tacoma,Wa; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, two sisters, one brother and five grandchildren. The funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Presbyterian church in Bonaparte. Burial will be in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
