Frank Lightfoot
Frank Lightfoot was born Feb. 15, 1850, and died March 21, 1910, on his farm near Big Mound in Lee County, Iowa, aged 60 years, 1 month, and 6 days. He had been complaining some time of rheumatism but was not considered to be in a dangerous condition. His death was caused by a throat trouble similar to tonsilitis [sic].
He was married Feb. 1, 1882, to Miss Matilda J. Stackbarger and three children were born to this union, one dying in infancy.
He was a resident of that community all of his life except three years when he lived in Ft. Madison and was sheriff of Lee county. He was a kind and generous hearted man. Many who attended the last service say it was the largest they every saw, friends coming from a long distance to attend the funeral of their friend.
He was a member of the Masonic, Eastern Star, and Woodmen lodges at Bonaparte, the Red Men at Farmington and the Elks at Ft. Madison, many members of the same attending the funeral at the home and the burial at Sharon cemetery.
He is survived by a brother, John, of Farmington, and two sisters, Mrs. Benjamin Ketcham of Bonaparte and Mrs. Beard of Versailles, Mo.; also by his beloved wife and children, Mrs. Levi Cummings of Protection, Kansas, and Harry, who is still at the parental home.
