Ronald Alan Johnson, 56, of 802 Liberty Drive, Fairfield, Iowa, died at 9:35 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2000, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfied. Following the committal service, friends and relatives are invited to the Iowa National Guard Armory for a luncheon and fellowship.

Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Cancer Fund, Fairfield Little League or Babe Ruth.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 2, 1943, in Jefferson County, the son of Willand B. and Vera A. Coen Johnson. He was raised on a farm located southeast of Stockport, Iowa. He married Sandra K. Brown Dec. 28, l968, at St. Mary's in Ottumwa.

Mr Johnson graduated from Stockport High School in 1961. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo. He was a teacher in Moravia and Van Buren Community Schools for a couple of years. He was an independent insurance broker for Principal Financial for 26 years.

He was a sergeant first class in the Iowa Nataional Guard Band for 27 years. He played taps for many military services. He played with the Dixieland Band; Art Reifsnyder Band; and his own band, E-Z Listening.

He was president of the Fairfield Babe Ruth. He coached and managed in the Fairfield Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs.

Survivors include his wife Sandra; his parents, Willard B. Johnson of Fairfield and Vera A. Coen Johnson of Fairfield; one son, Brad Johnson of Fairfield; one daughter, Tiffany M. Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; and one brother, Robert Johnson of Brownsberg, Indiana.
