Girard W. Workman Dies At 86

BIRMINGHAM RESIDENT, SON OF PIONEERS, HAD BEEN MEMBER OF THE WORKMAN MASONIC LODGE FOR 60 years.

Girard Washington Workman, well known lifetime resident of northern Van Buren county, died at 12:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 15, 1941, at Birmingham following a heart attack suffered earlier in the day. He was 86 years old.

Mr Workman was the son of Richard and Mary Ann Bowers Workman, pioneer residents of Van Buren county, and was born near the present site of Stockport on October 22, 1854.

He was married on Dec 22, 1875, to Miss Emma Huber, who died April 10, 1932. His parents, two sons,one daughter, and one brother, Oliver Perry Workman preceded him in death.

Surviving are three sons, Ralph and Fred of Birmingham and Rex of Fairfield, and three daughters, Mrs. Stella Archibald of Libertyville, Mrs. Maude Sherod of Keosauqua and Mrs. Mabel Hickey of Bloomfield.

Mr Workman was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years.

Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church in Birmingham at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon by the Rev. H. C. Irvine. Burail was at Maple Hill cemetery at Birmingham.

The Williams Brothers Quartet sang. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
