Don C. Johnston, 79, of rural Stockport died at 11:26 p.m. Sunday October 18, 1998 at Jefferson county hospital, Fairfield. He was born Nov. 25, 1918 near Utica to Clarence C. and Ollie Kisling Johnston. He married Mary Harty. She died in 1993.
He spent his life farming in the Utica community south of Stockport. He served forty-three months in the Pacific theater of operations with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147, American Legion, Stockport.
Surviving are a sister, Vera Johnston of St. Louis, Mo., a niece, Carol Greene of Ketchum, OK and a nephew, James Hopman of St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Paul Johnston, and two sisters, Doral Hopman and Irma McDaniel.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 1998 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Dibble Cemetery south of Stockport, with military rites by Elvin E. Cecil Post. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
