Eliza Brooks, wife of J.P. Brooks, died at her husband's residence in Chequest Township on Monday, July 18th at 6 o'clock p.m. Mrs. Brooks was an excellent Christian lady, having been a church member nearly 60 years. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. John Hunt who had known the deceased for over 40 years, on Tuesday. A very large crowd was present at the funeral ceremonies. Mrs. Brooks is the mother of James Brooks of Cantril, and Mrs. H.D. Wallis of this city.
