John Sloan Moore, son of Joseph and Phebe Moore, was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, July 1, 1847; and departed this life at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1927; at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 14 days.

He was married to Phoebe L. Meek May 5, 1876. She passed away Nov. 27, 1917.

On Dec. 22, 1920, he was united in marriage to Willa Myers. To them was born one son, Joseph, who with his mother mourns the loss of a kind and loving father and husband.

Besides the wife and son he leaves to mourn his departure several cousins and a host of friends.
He was baptized in the Christian church at Keosauqua, but several years ago he became a member of the Presbyterian church at Bonaparte.
He received his education in the schools of Johnstown, Pa., and also at Bethany College. He was a very intellectual man, a great reader, a keen observer and a wonderful musician, being a master of that divine instrument, the violin. His life has been a life of music and he was a splendid judge of anything pertaining to that art.

For many years he has belonged to the Mason Fraternity, being at time of his death a member of El Chanan Commandary No. 28, K. T., at Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held at the late home on Monday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Samp of the M. E. church officiating. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
