Aged Resident Dies.
Alfred Thomas Sneed-Chapman, a resident of Iowa for three score of years, answered the final summons on last Thursday morning and the body was laid to rest on the following Monday afternoon in the cemetery here, Rev. Kemp officiating.
During his life time, Mr. Chapman was identified with the business circles of the city, and these conditions existed until age and failing health forced his retirement.
He was born in Kincardinshire, Scotland, April 18, 1823. He came with his parents to America when about nine years old, settling in New York City. From there the family went to Kentucky, then to Des Moines county in 1841, then to Lee county, Ia.
He was married in Lee Co., April 22d, 1849, to Martha Pipe Chapman. They settled near Bonaparte in 1867.
There were thirteen children born to them, three died in infancy. Anna Pipe died in 1904, nine children survive him.
