Mable Ruth Houser was born March 31, 1904 near Primrose, Lee County, Iowa and died at her home north of Bonaparte, February 27, 1919 at the age of 14 years, 10 months and 27 days.

She lived all her life in Lee and Van Buren counties, having spent all her school days in Bonaparte. She had been under medical care for about a year and a half and had suffered much. She had shown some improvement however until about a week ago, when she became worse, but not enough to alarm the family. Death came suddenly on Thursday from what seemed to be a stroke of apoplexy.

Ruth was of very cheerful happy disposition and loved to sing. She was especially fond of “Nearer My God to Thee”, “Rock of Ages” and “When the Roll is called up Yonder.”

She leaves to mourn her demise, her parents, Mr. And Mrs. D. P. Houser, six brothers and two sisters and a large number of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the house Saturday afternoon, March 1, Rev. J.S. Coppoc preaching.
