Otto R. Perkins was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, November 2, 1881, the eldest child of William H. and Josephine Smith Perkins, and died at his home her Saturday morning, July 19, 1958, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 17 days.
He attended the Bonaparte schools, and learned the printing trade in the newspaper office of his uncle, A. A. Smith. He retired in 1955 from the office of the Record-Republican, where he had been employed for many years.
He was married November 11, 1905, to Miss Effie L. Cox, in Bonaparte. They were the parents of two children, Mrs. Kenneth H. Donnelly, of Peoria, Illinois, and Master Sargeant Joseph M. Perkins, of Ent Air Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Besides the widow, daughter and son, as sister, Miss Dorothy Perkins, of Orange, California, survives.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 P.M. in the Presbyterian church, Bonaparte, with the Rev. Edward Beall in charge, and Mrs. Robert Winslow at the organ. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm. Kerr, Sr., Kenneth Church, Ivan Mitchell, Lloyd Troutman, Brown Moore and Jack Christy.
