OBITUARY SKETCH.

Lemuel C., youngest son of E. E. and C. M. Cantril was born in Cantril, Iowa, July 31, 1876. While a child he removed with his parents to Mt. Sterling, thence to Bonaparte were he grew to manhood.

May 22, 1898, he was married to Miss Mary Bridge of Bonaparte, Rev. W. H. Schofield performing the ceremony. They resided in West Point for some time where he was engaged in the handle manufacturing with his father and brother; while at that place he united with the Presbyterian church, under the pastor of Rev. H. S. Beach.

He entered the railway train service, and at the time of his death was a valued employee of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, with headquarters at Fort Madison, Iowa.

Lem was one of 12 children, two brothers and two sisters having preceded him to the better land.

He leaves to mourn their loss, a wife, father and mother, now of West Point, four sisters: Mrs. Rosa Wellborn, Cantril; Mrs. Allie Roberts, Kansas City, Kas.; Mrs. Hattie Farwell, West Middlesex, Penn.; Mrs. Kittie Demple, Des Moines, Ia. and three brothers Jas. E. of West Point; T. N. and J. T. of Ft. Madison, Ia.

He will be missed among his railroad associates, and a host of other friends as his was a sunny disposition, always ready with a cheerful word for those he met, and though his illness was lingering, he was patient to the last, no words of complaint being uttered.

He was identified with the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, of which order he was a member of Gem City Lodge, No. 272 of Marceline, Mo., and also A. O. U. W. belonging to Keokuk, lodge No. 256, Keokuk, Ia., which orders lose a valued member.

He passed peacefully away Wednesday A. M., Feb. 15, his age being 28 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Bonaparte, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. E. Perkins of Keosauqua. Members of the A. O. U. W. lodges of Keokuk, Keosauqua and Bonaparte attended and held a short service at the grave in the Bonaparte cemetery. Six members of the Order of Railway Trainmen of Ft. Madison were the pall bearers. The floral offerings from the friends and from the lodges of which he was a member were elaborate and beautiful.

A floral brake wheel from the B. of R. T. lodge and an emblem from the A. O. U. W. were especially beautiful.

All the immediate relatives were present except Mrs. Hattie Farwell and Jas. E. Cantril.
