William F. Nauman, son of Ballbasar and Marie Elisbeth Nauman, was born in Germany on Jan. 21, 1874, and died at Bonaparte, Iowa, at the age of 57 years, 8 months and 22 days.

When he was seven, he came with his parents and all but three of the children to America, settling on the little farm on the Des Moines river, where long after the death of his parents he lived and cultivated the acres he loved as home, until physical disability and failing health made it necessary to discontinue the rigorous labor that has characterized his entire life. He grew to manhood in the community where he came as a boy, was one of the persons who found greatest satisfaction in work and he has spent many years in caring for the land where his boyhood was lived. His death came while he was engaged in a task beyond his strength, in the failing condition of his health, he having had several attacks of illness the past year or so. His was a familiar figure and a cheery voice that will be greatly missed from the streets where he daily went to and fro, and his industrious habits and honest dealings with his fellowmen will remain as a testimonial of his life lived among his friends. His parents, two brothers and three sisters have preceded him in death and the remaining family are four sisters and the nephews and nieces and their families. The sisters are: Mrs. Emil Noske of Bonaparte, Mrs. Fred Bauer of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mrs. H. S. Bonnefon of Marysville, Calif.; and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of Chicago.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at Presbyterian church in Bonaparte, Rev. D. D. Flanagan officiating. Interment in Bonaparte Cemetery.
