William Edward Haney, son of Sussanne McClure and Dennis Haney, was born on the Haney farm near Bonaparte, August 23, 1867. He grew to manhood on the farm, and all his life, with the exception of a few months, was spent in or near Bonaparte.

September 1, 1902 he was united in marriage with Miss Nettie Bell LeRoy. To this union two children were born, LeRoy and Wilma.

Mr. Haney was a telegraph operator for a number of years, was also employed as clerk in various stores, and his agreeable, obliging way of meeting customers made him many friends. His health failed, however, and for several years he has not been actively engaged in business.

Nine months ago he became bedfast, and since that time until his death, September 11, 1916, he has been a patient, but constant sufferer.
Mr. Haney lived to the age of 49 years and 19 days. He leaves a wife and two children, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson of Hobart, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Lulu Timble of Bonaparte, and a brother, Robert L. Haney, of Creston.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon, Sept. 14, with Rev. Mason in charge. The services were held at the home of Mrs. Haney's parents, Mr. And Mrs. Ed. Voigtlander, where Mr. Haney had undergone his prolonged illness.
