Chaminade Stutsman Blackford, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. W. S. Blackford, was born in Bonaprte, Iowa on Dec. 13, 1900 and died at her home here Wednesday night, Dec. 22, 1954.

Miss Blackford was graduated from the Bonaparte high school in 1915, at the age of 14 years, the youngest student ever to have completed the prescribed course of study in this school. At the age of 18 she received her bachelor's degree from the State University of Iowa, and during the next two years she taught in the public school at Wesington Springs, South Dakota. She then returned to the State University where she taught while working for her master's degree which she recived in 1921. For the next ten years she was a member of the faculty of the Cedar Rapids high school. Forced to retire because of illness, she returned to her home in Bonaparte, and later cared for her beloved grandmother, Mrs. E. Lewis Stutsman, during her last illness. She was also preceded in death by her father, W. S. Blackford.

Chaminade joined the Presbyterian church when a child. She was also affiliated with Zeta Tau Alpha, Chapter AB, P.E.O., Magnolia Chapter O.E.S. And the White Shrine. She is survived by her mother and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the late home in Bonaparte on Monday afternoon, Dec. 27, with the Rev. John Gill, pastor of the Bonaparte Presbyterian church, and the Rev. Jerald Beltz, pastor of the Bonaparte Baptist church, in charge of the service. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery.
