Mary Augusta Mahler

Mary Augusta Mahler, daughter of Maxamillian and Rosina Ritter Mahler, was born Dec. 6, 1875 on the old Mahler homestead in Harrisburg Twp., Van Buren county, Iowa. Here she lived until 17 years of age, when she went to Des Moines to study music. She spent some time in Des Moines and Grinnel studing and engaging in business, but for the past thirteen years has been living with her mother at the old home. She passed from this life at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 1928, after a severe illness of three years. She was fifty-two years and two months of age.

She was a devoted member of the St. Boniface church of Farmington, and did her share in the happy home life of the family. She was gifted in the grace of doing acts of kindness for others.

Miss Mary's going is the first break in the family circle since the death of the father Dec. 6, 1904. Those who remain to mourn are her mother, Mrs. Rosina Mahler, seven sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Anna Dea of Ossette, Mont., Mrs. Emma Baugher of Bonaparte, now traveling in the west, Pauline Mahler of Bonaparte; Mrs. Rose King of Des Moines, Mrs. Jennie Hays of Grinnel, Mrs. Kathryn Williamson of Farmington, Mrs. Theresa Nass of Libby, Mont., Edmund C. Mahler of Polson, Mont., Fred and Frank of Bonaparte. There are also fifteen nieces and nephews left to mourn the going of a beloved aunt.

Funeral services were held from the Baugher residence in Bonaparte Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., conducted by Father Moriarty of Farmington; interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
