William Lackey, a pioneer resident of Van Buren county, died at his home in Bonaparte Tuesday evening, August 13, 1929 about ten o'clock. His death was quite sudden and unexpected. Mr. Lackey had for several years been making his home alone. Earl McClintock, a young man of same neighborhood, was present at the time of his passing.

Mr. Lackey was by trade a mason and plasterer. On the day of his death he had been assisting in some work in the basement of the W.S. Lane home, and on Friday and Saturday of last week assisted in preparing the grave of Dr. R.N. Cresap.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church, Rev. Robbins, of Farmington officiating.
Note: According to his tombstone, he was born in 1857
