K. Roy Parr, 82, of Bonaparte, died suddenly Wednesday, May 28, 1969 at about 9 p.m., at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1887 in Champaign county, Illinois, the son of James Edward and Sarah E. Merrill Parr.

His marriage to Carrie O. Glasgow took place on Dec. 23, 1908 at Troy, Iowa. She died Jan. 3, 1967.

Mr. Parr moved to Bonaparte from Troy, Iowa. He retired in 1947 after having served 35 years as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of the Bonaparte United Methodist church; was a 50 year Mason of Bonaparte lodge AF & AM; was a member of Lafayette chapter No. 61, Bonaparte; and was a member of Magnolia chapter No. 276 Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Johnson of West Burlington, Mrs. Ethel Lee of Rockville, Md.; and one son, James Parr of Auburn, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Charles Brady of Milton; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

The funeral service was held Saturday, May 31, at 3 p.m., in the Bonaparte United Methodist church with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery with Masonic rites.

Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
