George Rufus Abernathy, son of John and Eva Christy Abernathy, was born October 28, 1871, and passed away June 10, 1951, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 12 days. He was born near Acasto, Mo., and there was married to Viola Barrow in 1893 who passed away in 1908. To this union was born one son, Ellis H. Abernathy, of Mills, New Mexico.
In 1909, he married Miss Stella Mason, of Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away in 1940.
He was married to Mrs. Alvina Rigamer in 1941, and she survives her husband.
Other survivors are a foster daughter, Mrs. Clyde McDonald of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two stepdaughters; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Vina White, of Farmington, Iowa, and Mrs. Hattie Warner, of Bonaparte.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Olin. Mr. Abernathy was a member of the Christian Church. He spent his boyhood and early life near Acasto, Missouri. In later life he moved to Oregon and New Mexico, and at the time of his death was living at Yuma, Arizona.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John S. Ellis at Acasto chapel. Thursday afternoon, at 2:00. Interment in the Acasto cemetery.
