George E. Sprankle

SPRANKLE, CACKLEY, KNIGHT, WILLIAMS

George E. Sprankle, 92, formerly of Farmington, died Sunday, May 20, 1962 at 11:15 a.m., at Burlington. He had been in a rest home there and had been taken to Mercy Hospital, Burlington about three weeks ago.

Born in Bonaparte, Feb. 27, 1870, he was the son of William and Sarah Sprankle. On Jan. 7, 1899 he married Emma L. Cackley. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Farmington.

Years ago he managed the Burlington Vinegar and Pickle Works in Farmington. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son George, who died in infancy, and one sister. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Knight of Ottumwa and Mrs. LaVerne Williams of Joliet, Ill., and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 23, at 1:30 p.m., from the Giles Funeral Home, Burlington with the Rev. G. A. Saathoff officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte.
