Henry Beard, son of William and Mary Beard and twin brother of Charles Beard, was born January 19, 1860 on a farm northeast of Bonaparte.

On December 17, 1886 he united in marriage with Jennie Gilchrist of Cantril, Iowa and in the same year became a member of the M. E. church of that place.

For some years they lived in Bonaparte and In Eldon till 1901 when Mrs. Beard died.

Since that time he has been engaged in the carpenter trade at Kansas City and more lately employed as watchman in the John Deere Plant at Moline.

Becoming ill about two weeks ago he was taken to the hospital at Keokuk where he passed away Sunday, September 14 at the age of 59 years, 7 mo., 25 da.

He leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter, Mrs. Eva Sullivan of Wadena, Minn. Who was with him during his last illness, also six grandchildren, six sisters, five brothers, and many other relatives.

He was a member of the Masonic order and also a member of the Modern Woodman lodge. He was a man universally kind and free hearted and loved especially by his own relatives. He leaves many friends.
