John W. Nelson 1836 - 1889

Nelson - At his residence in Washington township, Van Buren county, Iowa, on Monday morning, April 1, 1889, John W. Nelson.

Deceased to was born in Wayne county, Ohio, and with his parents moved to Richmond county, Ill., in 1836, and in the year of 1845, the family moved to Van Buren county and settled in Washington township. He was married to miss Eliza Boner of the same township, January 12, 1860. This union was blessed by the birth of 7 children, 6 of whom are still living; Minnie, Martha, Ethel, Nellie, Edna and Johnnie.

Mr. Nelson was a good neighbor, a loving husband and a dutiful and kind father. He was a farmer and a very successful man in his vocation and at the time of his demise was worth several thousand dollars. He was a useful manned and was highly respected by his numerous friends and neighbors.

The bereaved family has the sympathy of many citizens.
