From her husband's James F. Cogar's obituary:

Caroline D. Slaughter was married to James F. Cogar in 1830. This union was blessed with eight children, three boys and five girls. Of these eight children but two are living at present. Mrs. T. I. Bradford and Mr. C. L. Cogar. Mr. and Mrs. Cogar removed to Van Buren County, locating near Bonaparte in 1839. where they remained till death called them thence.

Mrs. Cogar died Jan. 14th, 1871.
