T. H. McConnaughey

MCCONNAUGHEY

After years of suffering, death released the tired spirit of T. H.. McConnaughey last Friday and our city mourns the loss of this citizen.

Something over three years ago cancer made its appearance on his chin and despite the fact that every effort was made to destroy the dreadful germ, death was the only relief. He made a strenuous fight and bravely met the inevitable.

Deceased had been a resident of our city for many years and in his various relations had drawn to him many close, personal friends, who, in his hours of affliction, gave him all possible relief and were present when the sad rights were observed.

Deceased was a soldier of the sixties and as such distinguished himself. Old comrades in a body paid a last tribute.

The services were in charge of Rev. Duty Sunday and were held at the home, at 9 o'clock after which the body was taken to Salem for burial, the family being accompanied by friends.
