Ethel Marie, only child of James and Mary Jones was born near Vernon,Ia, April 14,1913 and passed away at her home in Mt.Sterling, Dec. 23,1937, at the age of 24 years,8 months and 10 days. Her mother died when she was 12 days old and she made her home for several years with her aunts Mrs. Allen Drummond and Mrs. Dora Morris. She attended school at Mt. Sterling and during her sophomore year at Keossauqua high school she was compelled to give up her studies on account of her health. She was married on June 28,1931 to Harold Morris and they moved to their farm in Missouri, later moving to Colorado when her health again failed. During the violent dust storms they returned to Mt. Sterling where they have since resided. Ethel was a very bright, loveable, intelligent girl, with her sweet, gentle way endearing to all who knew her. She was ill many years and confined to bed the last 3 years.She was appreciative of everything done for her, especially Mrs. Margaret Morris, who has been her constant companion for the last seven months and Mrs. Allen Drummond who has been so faithful in caring for her through her entire short life. She is survived by her husband and father who did everything possible for her comfort and her care. Also aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services were held at the Mt. Sterling church and burial was in Vernon cemetery.
