George Bruce McComb, the son of Thomas McComb and Finette Haskins Smith McComb, was born on the home farm in Harrisburg Township, near Bonaparte, Iowa, on March 20, 1872, and passed away at Red Bluff, Calif., on June 4, 1955, at the age of 83 years, two months, and 14 days.
He was united in marriage with Lena Belle Rockefellow on May 29, 1891, and to this union four children were born: Robert Bruce of Spokane, Wash., Marie Finette Lingenfelter, of Red Bluff, Calif., Harold Craig, of Columbia, Mo., and Helen Carita, now Mrs. Rollo White of Bonaparte, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife on April 24, 1938, and by a great-grandson, David Allen Lingenfelter, on May 12, 1954.
Besides the four children, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren, and by twenty great-grandchildren.
The deceased spent the greater part of his life on the farm in Harrisburg Township. Since 1942 he had lived for most of the time in Red Bluff, Calif.
Music was his lifetime interest and avocation. Even during his residence in California, he was an active and faithful member of the Tehama County Band.
He was a member of Bonaparte Lodge No. 73, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and of Lafayette Chapter No. 61, Royal Arch Masons.
Funeral services were held at the Harrisburg Baptist at 2 p.m., Friday in charge of Rev. Dallas Roark. Music was by Dorothy Huff, Rhea Brombaugh and Glenna Stecker. Pallbearers were W. B. Tade, Ralph Dodds, Bruce R. Vale, Donald McDowell, Roy E. Pickard and Stanley Miller. Mrs. Ralph Dodds and Mrs. Donald McDowell were in charge of the flowers. Burial was in Vale cemetery.
