George Rupe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Rupe,was born July 29,1841 and departed this life August 22,1930, age 89 years and 23 days. he was united in marriage to Amanda Sullivan in 1862. To them were born 14 children, seven preceding him in death. The wife and mother passed away August 6,1906. he leaves to mourn his death the following children; Joseph Rupe of Acasto,Mo, Mrs. Sam Barker of Columbus Junction, Mo, Mrs. Joseph Knight of Gregory, Mo, Mrs. Harvey Mullen of Keokuk, Mrs. Will Lancaster of Mt. Sterling,Mrs. Jesse Bishop of Sioux City, Mrs. C.E. Miller of Keosauqua, aalso a sister Mrs. Will Ewing of Mt. Zion and a brother John Rupe of Memphis,Mo, also 20 grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Rupe cemetery near Mt. Sterling on Sunday.
