Ed Cox, son of Alonzo and Mary Cox was born in Vernon township, Van Buren county, Iowa, March 26, 1874, and always resided in this vicinity until removed by death on the morning of April 30, 1904, aged 30 years, 1 month, 4 days. United with the church at this place in the winter of 1895, under the ministry of Rev. H. F. Gilbert, and has been a follower of his Savior since that time. He was united in marriage with Miss Pearl Dake April 15, 1896, who with three little boys are left to mourn the loss of a husband and father's care and protection. His oldest child, a daughter, preceded him to the other world some years previous. He was a good neighbor and was well thought of in his community. He was followed to his last resting place by a very large company of people. He was laid away in Center Chapel cemetery to await the trumpet's call.
