MRS. FRANK WATTS

Charlotte Elzora Ray, only child of Charles B. and Sarah Newsom ray, was born Dec. 4, 1871 on the Ray homestead, now the Leslie Watts farm two miles south of Bonaparte. She departed this life at her home in east Bonaparte on the evening of Nov. 17, 1945, aged 73 years, 11 months and 13 days.

On May 7, 1894, she was united in marriage with Frank J. Wats. To this union was born one son, Leslie A. Watts. Their home for four years was near Hillsboro, Iowa. They then moved to the home farm south of Bonaparte where they lived until August, 1928, when they moved to Bonaparte.

While living at Hillsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Watts united with the Christian church, transferring their memberships to the Mr. Zion Baptist church of Bonaparte when they moved to this community. She was a member of Magnolia Chapter Order of Eastern Star; and a charter member of the Lazy Daisy Club, a social organization of the women of the neighborhood.

Lotie, as she was best known to her many friends, was devoted to her home and family, with a happy outlook on life that endeared her to everyone. Failing health had kept her at home most of the time for the past few years, but she found enjoyment in doing what she could with no word of complaint. May 7, 1944, was especially happy for Mr. and Mrs. Watts, for on that day they celebrated their golden wedding, with relatives and friends in to share the anniversary with them. Her health had failed so gradually that she was considered seriously ill less than a week before she died.

Her going leaves to mourn her husband, Frank J. Watts, and their son, Leslie A. and wife, Winnetka Watts, and the two grandchildren Carl A. and Mary Jo Watts, and many friends, all of whom will long cherish her memory.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 20, from the Baptist church, Bonaparte, Rev. Nidderhuth preaching. Music by Keith Gaston, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Warner. Interment in Bonaparte cemetery.
