Death of Young Lady

Died, at the home, east of Bonaparte, on Friday, Oct. 7, 1904, Miss Julia A. Chapman, aged 26 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Deceased, the younger of five children, was the daughter of Wm. P. and Mary Ann Chapman and was born in Mitchell county, Kas., where the family then resided, but within the year the home was again established near Bonaparte.

Nature, while oftimes so generous, was less profuse in her gifts in this instance, and it seemed that the life was only given that joy to the parents and family might be derived through tender and watchful care. Julia was an invalid from infanthood, but the short life cemented stronger the ties which make home and family of so much import.

A year ago the mother died and her chief regret at leaving was her solicitude for the welfare of the youngest child, and she commissioned to those left the labor of love, which was carried out dilligently [sic].

Some three weeks ago typhoid fever fastened on her and the enfeebled constitution could not withstand the ravages of the disease, and the spirit winged its way to be united with the mother in that land where joy is supreme and where sorrow and affliction are unknown.

Of the immediate family there are left the father, one sister, Mrs. Maud Core of Oklahoma and three brothers, Wm., Phil and Robert all of whom reside here.

Short services were held at the home and grave Sunday at 11 o'clock, W. A. Packer presiding. A choir of young ladies sang sweet and appropriate songs.
