The funeral of Edgar B. Scott was held from the family residence on Elm Street on last Friday at 2 o'clock p.m.. Sermon was preached by Rev. J. H. Taylor, music by a quartet from the Baptist church choir.

The members of the Massasoit tribe of the Improved Order of Red Men, of which the deceased was an active member, were in attendance in a body and took charge of the services at the close of the sermon. At the cemetery the order rendered their beautiful and impressive burial service, at the close of which a white dove is released and source of upward emblematic of the departure of the spirit of the deceased.

A large concourse of sympathizing friends were in attendance. One of the most touching scenes was when the remains were being viewed. Strong stalwart young man, intimate friends of the departed, were almost overcome with grief, and again at the grave as the sprigs of evergreen were deposited these same strong men could not hide their grief and tears fell into the open grave as they bid the last farewell to their departed brother.

Many beautiful floral offerings were in evidence, among which was a large floral piece presented by the Red Men, same being a representation of an Indian tepee [sic]. The following are some of the relatives and friends from a distance who were in attendance: George Barnett of Chicago, George D. Scott and daughter Georgie of Oskaloosa, Oliver Scott of Hillsboro, Ia.; Charles Moreland of St. Louis.

The deceased leaves a wife and little daughter and a loving mother, and many relatives and friends to mourn his untimely demise.
