Geo. W. Thompson 1849-1904

Geo. W. Thompson was born July 25, 1849 near Bonaparte, Iowa, and departed this life Feb. 28 1903 [corrected in pencil to 1904] from pneumonia after an illness of nearly three weeks.
He was 54 years 7 months and 3 days old.

He was united in marriage with Miss Margaret McGaughey Feb. 13, 1873, and to this union was born five children: Dr. Ira F. of Mt. Hamil, Iowa; Edward B. of Vinita, I. T.; Lizzie of Bonaparte, Iowa; Chas. B. of Moline, Ill; and Mrs. Mary Warner of Bonaparte, Iowa.

On Dec. 15, 1885, his wife passed to a higher life.

Jan. 26, 1887, he was again united in marriage with Miss Emma King of Farmington, Iowa, and to this union 3 children were born, Myrtle, Fern and Harold, the latter dying early in infancy.

On Jan. 26, 1904, his second wife was called to her better home.

He leaves to mourn their loss three sons, four daughters, one granddaughter, one sister Mrs. W. P. L. Muir of Bonaparte, Iowa, and one brother, Hirman Thompson of Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at Story Chapel March 2, 1904, Rev. J. W. Carlson preaching from Isaiah-40:1. The remains were laid to rest in the Thompson cemetery, adjoining the farm where he was born and the whole life spent.
