Charles B. Cartnal, the son of Jacob and Addie Harr Cartnal was born December 20, 1885 at the Cartnal homestead near Anson, Missouri and passed away at his home June 16, 1955. At the time of his death, he was 69 years, 5 months and 27 days of age. His entire life was spent on the farm.

He was a kind husband, friend and neighbor, ever ready to help wherever needed.

While his death was unexpected, he had been in failing health the past two years.

On June 14, 1933, he was united in marriage to Nellie King Cartnal. His loyal companion survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Allie Murphy and Nora Cartnal of Farmington, Iowa; Lindy Purdy of Rutledge, Mo. and one brother, Clark Cartnal of Farmington.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, Bertie Griffith, Irma Burger and Ethel Barrows and one brother, Joseph Cartnal. Also several nieces, nephews and a host of friends to mourn his departure.

And when at last I'm called upon
To join the heavenly throng,
I'd like to feel along my way
I'd left no sign of wrong.
And yet the cares are many
And the hours of toil are few,
There is not time enough on earth
For all I'd like to do;
But having lived and having toiled
I'd like the world to find
Some little touch of beauty
That my soul had left behind.
