Mary M. Hale.
May M. Ford was born in Ohio in 1841 and in 1857 was married to John Close. To this union were born nine children of whom three daughters and one son are living. The father died in 1890.
In 1892 she was married to E. M. Hale of Newton, Iowa. Mrs. Hale has lived at Newton, Waterloo, Vinton, Farmington, and Bonaparte, but since the death of Mr. Hale has been living with her children.
She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Weiher, May 23. A short funeral service was held at the Weiher home Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Jones and on Wednesday morning the remains were taken to Grinnel, Iowa, for interment. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Methodist church.
