MRS. ANNIE IOWA PIPE.
OBITUARY SKETCH.

Annie I. Chapman, daughter of Alfred and Martha Chapman, was born in Keokuk, Iowa, June 2, 1866, and came to Bonaparte with her parents in the autum [sic] of 1867, where she spent the greater part of her life, attending the public school of Bonaparte until she was sixteen years of age.

Annie became united with the M. E. church at Bonaparte and took a very active interest in the work of the church, the Epworth League, and the Aid Society.

When Chapter AB, P. E. O. was organized she became a charter member and continued an active worker in the society until her marriage to Walter C. Pipe, of St. Louis, October 7, 1901, since which time she made her home with her husband at 2513 Slattery, St. Louis, Missouri, where she died on Sunday, May 1, 1904.

In compliance with he wish expressed shortly before she died, the remains were brought to Bonaparte, Tuesday morning, May 3, accompanied by her husband and Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Chapman, of St. Louis, and the funeral services were held at the home of her childhood, Wednesday at 2 o'clock.

Mrs. Pipe was a sister of T. P. Chapman, St. Louis, E. W. Chapman, Maysville, Missouri; Mrs. W. A. Packer and Miss Una L. Chapman, Bonaparte; and G. P. Chapman, Cantril, Iowa; all of whom were present at the services. Also of A. D. Chapman, Anaconda, Montana; Mrs. M. J. Scoville, Bismarck, N. Dakota; Miss Grace J. Chapman, Spokane, Washington, and Mrs. Saddler, San Jose, California, who were unable to attend the funeral on account of the briefness of time and long distance.

Mrs. Pipe had been ill for some time but her sickness was not considered serious until the day before her death. Though she had been under the physicians care for more than a year it was impossible to determine the cause of her illness, which shortly before the end developed into peritonitis.
