SAW MILL ACCIDENT
ED COX KILLED

About three o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, April 29, Ed Cox was assisting in running a saw mill near his home in northern Vernon Township when a board became entangled in the saw and gearing and struck him across the face with great violence. His face was terribly mashed and he was made unconscious by the blow.

Physicians Russell and Craig of Keosauqua were summoned and did all they could for the injured man but he died at 8 A. M. Saturday without regaining consciousness.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 P. M. at the Center Chapel with interrment [sic] at the cemetery there. He leaves a wife and three boys.

His wife's maiden name was Pearl Dake. Mr. Cox was thirty years and one month old and is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Cox of Des Moines township.

Van Buren county people extend sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family.
