Darrell A. Gonterman, 22, of Kilbourn, died at 1:08 a.m Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born Aug. 8, 1985, in Fairfield, he was the son of Terry and Lori Wells Gonterman. He lived most of his life with his grandparents, Ralph and Betty Gonterman.

Mr. Gonterman worked at Lisco Corporation in Fairfield. He attended Van Buren High School in Keosauqua. He enjoyed art, music, fishing, video games and pool.

Survivors include his father of Kilbourn; his mother and stepfather, Gean Phelps of Colchester, Ill.; three brothers, Travis Gonterman and Dustin Gonterman of Birmingham and Terry Wells of Fairfield; one sister, Denae Ward of Keosauqua; two stepbrothers, Robbie Phelps of Colchester and Michael Phelps of Minnesota; and his grandparents Ralph and Betty Gonterman of Kilbourn and Andy and Joyce Reddick of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Gonterman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Memorials have been established for Van Buren County Jaws of Life and Stockport Fire Department.
