Sherman Taylor, Farmer, 61, Dies Near Mt. Hamill

Mt. Hamill, Ia., Monday, June 28 — Sherman Taylor, 61, prominent farmer of this community, died Saturday at his home near Big Mound. He was the youngest son of Lewis and Margaret (Hampton) Taylor, born Feb. 2, 1865, in Lee County, Iowa, and spent his entire life farming in the Cedar township community.

Mr. Taylor was united in marriage on September 12, 1893 to Mary C. NEWBY eldest daughter of Matthew and Martha (POWELL) NEWBY, who died four years ago. To this union were born two sons Fred and Frank. Both sons along with Frank’s wife Ellen (Gardner) Taylor were living with Mr. Taylor at the time of his death. In addition to his family, Mr. Taylor is survived by a brother L. Murray of Big Mound and a twin sister Mrs. Flagg (Minnie) Goodell of Atchison, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marion; four half-brothers: Joseph, Peter, Comes, Albert and two half-sisters, Josephine “Jessie” (Taylor) Barnes and Alberdine “Allie” (Taylor) Baugher Ware. Funeral and internment services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. Sharon Church.
