Paul M. Kimmel, 83, of Bettendorf, formerly of Mount Sterling and Washington, died Saturday, Jan.5, 1991, at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McGinnis, Chambers and Sass Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at the Davenport Memorial Park.

Mr Kimmel was born Aug. 26, 1907, in Birmingham, (Van Buren County, Iowa) the son of John and Louisa (Miner) Kimmel. On June 1, 1928, he married Lillie M. Bennett in Mount Sterling.

He was employed by the Bee-Line Company of Bettendorf, Davenport and Riverdale for 33 years, retiring in 1978.

Mr. Kimmel was a member of the National Rifel Association, the National Wildlife Federation and the Quad Cities Plus 60 Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and playing the fiddle and guitar.

Surviving are his wife, Lillie; a daughter, Paula Collier, Mount Pleasant; a son, Richard, Bettendorf; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. Also surviving are six sisters, Lucy McGaffey, Fairfield; Edith Fisher, Toulon, Ill.; Helen Leyden, Washington; Ruth McGill, Davenport; Eleanor Stalder, Brighton; and Marietta Canaday, Selma; and a brother, Henry, Milton.

Mr. Kimmel was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

Visitation has begun at the funeral home in Bettendorf and will continue from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials can be given to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
