Lived Less Than Day After Sustaining Internal Hurts in Accident at Home

Roscoe Franklin Ramsey, 58, died at the Washington County Hospital this morning at 1:20 as a result of injuries he sustained yesterday forenoon in a fall at his home, 308 North Seventh ave.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at Kilbourne, Iowa, with burial in the cemetery at Pittsburg, Iowa. Arrangements are in charge of Sherman's funeral home.

Falls When Pole Breaks
Mr. Ramsey sustained internal injuries when he fell about 90 feet from a light pole while removing wires leading to a chicken brooder in the yard at his home.

The pole broke off at the ground and he fell on crushed rock in an alleyway, the pole falling on top of him. He was taken immediately to the hospital.

Lived Here Since 1919
Mr. Ramsey was born July 1, 1887, in Van Buren county, Iowa, a son of Charles and Stella (Sluts) Ramsey, and when he was small the family moved to Kilbourne, Iowa. He was married at Keosauqua Nov. 13, 1907, to Carrie McGaffey. They had lived in Washington since 1919.

He had been an employee of the Rock Island railroad for about 25 years and for the last eight years was a crossing tower watchman in the Washington yards.

Surviving him are his wife; his mother, who made her home here during the winter months; and one brother, Nelson Ramsey of Kilbourne. Two sisters and his father are deceased.
