Mrs. John Kimmel, 88, of Washington, formerly of Birmingham, died Monday evening, Oct 25 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Washington, where she had been a resident for approximately a year and a half.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Washington. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
Louisa Miner was born Dec. 22, 1882 in Kansas. She was married to John Kimmel in 1900. He preceded her in death in 1961. The couple were farmers in the Birmingham area and moved to Washington when they retired. Mrs. Kimmel was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived be 10 children: Mrs. Lucy McGaffey, Mrs. Helen Leyden, Mrs. Eleanor Stalder and Fred, all of Washington, Henry of Kilbourne, George of Noble, Paul of Bettendorf, Mrs. Ruth McGill of Davenport, Mrs. Edith Fisher of Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Canaday of Selma; 54 grandchildren; over 100 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by several grandchildren.
