HASSIE STRAIN EDMONDSON
Mrs. John Edmondson, who has been so low for several months, passed away at the Woodward home, Monday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, the funeral address being given by Rev. B.G. Hankins. Interment was made at the Oak Point Cemetery, north of town.
July 24, 1916 - Hassie A. Strain was born in Rockbridge County Virginia on January 28, 1840. She was united in marriage to John C. Edmondson, February 9, 1869. To this union five children were born, four of whom preceded their mother in death.
Deceased came to Iowa with her husband in 1869, settling on a farm north of Milton, where for most of her life, she has since resided. Her husband died in December of 1900.
Mrs. Edmondson united with the Presbyterian Church early in life and has lived a faithful consistent Christian and passed away with full assurance of seeing her Savior face to face and meeting those that she had loved and lost a while.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Charles H. Edmondson of Eugene Oregon; four grandchildren born to her daughter Maggie B. Brown, who preceded her mother in death by about six months; also one sister, Mrs. Emma R. Ramsey of Milton West Virginia, besides several relatives and friends. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
