LOUIS J. ZIHLMAN
Louis J. Zihlman, son of Joseph and Barbara Hoesch Zihlman, was born February 24, 1898 near Wayland Iowa, and passed away at his home in Milton, on August 30, 1960 after a lingering illness of many months at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 6 days.
At an early age he was baptized and confirmed in the Hope Lutheran Church near Fairfield Iowa and transferred his membership to the Grace Methodist Church at Milton in 1937.
On February 3, 1921 he was united in marriage to Nina E. Roth at Mt. Pleasant Iowa. They lived on a farm in Henry County for nine years, moving to a farm north of Milton in 1930. In 1944 they moved to the town of Milton where they have since resided. To this union was born one daughter Frances.
He was preceded in death, by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Nina; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Douglas Hunt; two grandchildren, Eddie and Teresa Hunt all of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Fjelland and Mrs. Minnie McClintic both of Des Moines, Mrs. Margaret Lewis of Wellman and Mrs. Franklin Wittmer of Houghton Michigan; two brothers, John Zihlman of Wayland and Andrew Zihlman of Brighton; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Zihlman home in Milton on Friday, September 2, 1960 at 12 o’clock with the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. A second service was held at 2:30 p.m. at the Green Mound Chapel near Trenton with the Rev. Harryman officiating assisted by Rev. Stevens, pastor of the church. Interment was in Green Mound Cemetery. The Wagler Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
