HELEN KEAN
Helen Kean, daughter of Joseph A and Elizabeth Kean, was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, Jan. 16, 1842. She was one of the first children born in the village. Her life for the full extent has been spent in Bonaparte, except the last year. She has been an invalid for a number of years and a child of affliction.
In early life was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, in Bonaparte. Her father's residence was always the stopping place for Methodist itinerates.
The end of her sufferings came on March 30, 1921, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 14 days. She is survived by one sister, Emma, a nephew, Harry Barber of Burlington, Iowa and other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. James and interment in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
