George Martin Gibson, son of Theodore and Eunice Gibson, was born near Keosauqua Iowa on January 16, 1869, and died at the St Joseph hospital in Ottumwa, Saturday morning, September 10, 1932, aged 63 years, 7 months and 24 days.
On January 29, 1896, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Gilfillan and to this union, one son was born, George Gibson, of Davenport.
They have resided in Davis county during their married life, with the exception of two years spent in Missouri.
In early life, Mr. Gibson was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of Pittsburg, Iowa. He was also a member of the K. of P. Lodge of Milton.
Those who survive him and mourn their loss are the wife, their son George, two brothers, William Gibson of Milton, Louis Gibson of Keosauqua, two sisters, Mrs. Stella Spencer of Pittsburg and Mrs. Florence Etheridge in Arizona.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, September 12, in the Methodist church, in charge of Rev. W.B. Ireland. The beautiful and profuse floral offerings and the large company of people in attendance was truly an expression of the love and esteem in which he was held. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
