The death of Mrs. William Tidwell Smith occurred at her home July 25, 1934. Mrs. Smith's maiden name was Alma Anne Mussetter. She was born on the home farm near Lebanon, Van Buren County Iowa, December 26, 1853. In early life she united with the Presbyterian Church and remained a steadfast, consecrated christian giving both of her time and strength to the upbuilding of God's kingdom. Her daily life was a living testimony of her faith and her later years gave evidence of even greater trust in her Heavenly Father's love and care.
As a young woman she was a successful teacher, making character building and right living the chief objectives in her teaching.
Alma was married to William Tidwell Smith at Boise, Idaho, July 7, 1887. Three children were born to this union, all dying at birth. Mr. Smith passed away December 15, 1915, while their home was in Hereford Texas, since which time Mrs. Smith has made her home with her sister, Elizabeth Mussetter in Milton Iowa.
She leaves to mourn her passing a foster son, Arthur Clark, of Montpelier, Idaho; four sisters, Mrs. Olive Groome, of Caldwell, Idaho, Mrs. Minnie Clayton and Miss Elizabeth Mussetter of Milton, Mrs. Margarete Campbell of Macon Missouri; also four nephews and one niece as well as a host of friends who loved her.
The funeral for Mrs. smith was held at the Presbyterian church Friday morning, July 27, at 10 o'clock, services conducted by the pastor Rev. Coleman. Mrs. May Foster presided at the piano, Miss Elizabeth Barton reading "Crossing the Bar." The body was laid to rest in the Pittsburgh cemetery by the side of her husband.
The pallbearers were John Robinson, Frank Robinson, John Burchett, E.E. Gaston, O.E. Tade and Clayton Bell. I am not related and am posting this obituary for those who might find this person in their family history.
