Keosauqua - Edward Strait, 55, prominent Van Buren County farmer, died December 9 in the Jefferson County Hospital, Fairfield, where he had been a patient since Sunday.
Straight was a native of Van Buren County, and was born March 26, 1893. He was the son of Israel and Sarah Plowman Strait, and was a veteran of the first world war. At the time of his death he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers State Bank of Keosauqua, and was also a past commander of Beer-Barker Post, American Legion.
Surviving are four brothers and two sisters, Garfield, Clarence, Bruce and Wilbur Strait, all of Keosauqua, and Mrs. Milo DeLong, West Chester, and Mrs. Lena Crane of Douds.
A brother, Ross Strait, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Burkett, are dead.
The body is at the Burnett funeral home.
