JAMES HENRY HOLMES.
OBITUARY SKETCH.

James Henry Holmes was born April 6, 1855, and died February 2, 1904, aged forty-eight years, nine months and twenty-seven days. The deceased was the son of John and Lydia Holmes and one of a family of ten children, six of whom are left to mourn the loss of a brother.

With the exception of a brief residence in Keokuk the deceased lived in Harrisburg township and in the immediate vicinity of where he was born.

He was married to Clara M. DeRosear January 13, 1880, who with their four children, Della, Archie, Lillian, and Harry are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.

Brother Holmes was converted and professed belief in the saving power of his lord and master in 1876 during a meeting at Harrisburg church conducted by Rev. T. M. Wood and died fully trusting a Savior's love.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a faithful Christian , and excellent citizen, and a member of the Harrisburg Baptist church.

Funeral services were very largely attended and were held in the Baptist church at Harrisburg on Thursday, the fourth inst., his pastor officiating. The interrment [sic] was in the Vale cemetery.
