J. N. McDavitt - Born in Central, IL February 17, 1862 and died at Burlington, IA November 16, 1910, age 48 years, 8 months, 29 days. Wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schenck. Mother died when he was 12. When 17 taught school. Several years in Wellington, KS. In 1891 married Miss Mattie Berry, a sister-in-law of George Whiteley. His wife died in 1894. Later he came to Bonaparte and married August 25, 1909 Dr. Bertha E. Stecker of Bonaparte. Buried in Burlington.
